WOMEN'S SOCIAL & COMMUNITY GROUP

Atta (wheat flour) biscuits

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups of wheat flour
1/2 cup ghee (room temperature)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk (room temperature)

 

METHOD

Whisk ghee and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy – the mixture should change colour to almost white

Sift the flour and baking powder together and add to the mixture

Mix it all with a spatula before adding the milk and then knead gently to make a soft dough

Line a baking sheet with greaseproof or parchment paper

Shape the biscuits and place them on the baking sheet and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (160°c in a fan assisted oven) for 20 minutes

Once baked, take them out of the oven and let cool for five minutes

Enjoy your biscuits with tea or any drink of your choice

Salad chaat

INGREDIENTS

Boiled chick peas
Broccolli
Red Onion
Cucumber
Red bell peppers
Avocado
Tomatoes
Green chillies
Fresh mint, coriander and methi leaves

 

METHOD

Dice all of the ingredients finely

Mix sunflower seeds in

Mix corinader, mint and methi leaves in

Sprinkle chaat masala and squeeze lemon over

Enjoy this healthy salad

Leek and potato soup

INGREDIENTS

2 tbsp olive oil
2 leeks
2 medium sized potatoes
1-2 chillies
5 cloves of garlic
pinch of oregano
1 lemon

 

METHOD

Sauté chopped leek and potatoes for 3 minutes before adding chillies, pressed garlic and pinch of oregano

Add 3 cups of hot water and 1 cube of vegetable stock

Let it simmer for 12 minutes and then blend with a hand blender

Add 1 spoon of sea salt and freshly crushed black pepper

Add the juice of one lemon

Garnish with parsley or coriander

Grate some cheese on top of accompanying bread or rolls

Sprinkle some jeera over and warm under the grill for 2 to 3 minutes

Enjoy your soup (with very little calories)

 

Probiotic kanji juice

INGREDIENTS

4 medium carrots
1/2 beetroot
4 level tsp black salt
4 tsp brown mustard
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp nigella seeds (kalong)
2  1″ cinnamon stick
8 cups of cooled-boiled water

METHOD

Wash and slice the carrots and beetroot and put them into a glass container

Add salt, brown mustard, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick and nigella seeds

Add the cups of water and cover the container with a tight lid, leaving it in a sunny place

Remove after 3 days of developing, ready to drink

 

Green chillies, lemon and ginger pickle

INGREDIENTS

250g green chillies
250g mustard oil
1 lemon
50g ginger
4 tbsp brown mustard (dal)
1 tbsp crushed fennel seeds
1 tbsp whole fennel seeds
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1 tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 tbsp salt
1 tsp nigella seeds (kalongi)
1 tbsp amchoor powder (dry mango powder)

 

METHOD

Wash dry chillies and slit length-wise or cut in half

Wash dry lemon and ginger

Cut lemon into small pieces

Cut ginger into small slices

In a big platter, mix Dal, turmeric, salt, amchoor powder, kalongi, and fennel seeds.

Put oil in a pan and heat it till its very hot. Now let it cool a little. Then add 1/2 tea spoon each of  kalongi, fennel seeds and asafoetida.

Pour this prepared oil to the dry mixed masala

Now add chillies, lemon and ginger to this oil. Mix it well with a spoon and let it cool down fully.

Put in to the dry jar and cover with lid and leave for 2 days, before removing when your pickle is ready to eat!

Launch of #CelebrateNationalLottery25 Funded Dance to Music Project


Trinjan are Launching #CelebrateNationalLottery25 Funded Project on Tuesday, 3rd March 2020 at 7 pm at Thistleworth Social & Tennis Club, Ridegway Road North, Isleworth, TW7 5LX.

Thanks to #NationalLottery players for making our project possible. Our ‘Dance to music for mental & physical wellbeing’ project will make a huge difference to the lives of women in their 50 plus and 60 plus living in Borough of Hounslow. Thanks to #NationalLottery funding for making it possible.

 

 

 

Trinjan celebrated 15th Anniversary & raised £1637

Trinjan organised a dinner & dance party to celebrate 15th Anniversary at Osterley Park Hotel on 26th April 2019. It was a very well attended event. Among the guests were MP Seema Malhotra, Channi Singh OBE, Trustees of The Mulberry Centre, new Executive Director of TMC, Raj Athwal, members of London Acton Lions Club and members of Trinjan. Raffle, ticket sale and donations raised a fantastic sum of £1637 for TMC. Lions Club donated a generous amount of £1000.

Barclays matched £1000 raised from Raffle. Trinjan managed to secure £2000 donation for TMC from Charity Trust of Yorkshire Building Society. In total Trinjan managed to raise a brilliant sum of £5637 for TMC.

Trinjan’s 15th Anniversary Party on 26th April 2019 @ Osterley Park Hotel

Trinjan has organised a party to celebrate 15 years of being a successful social & community group. It’s members have been actively raising funds for The Mulberry Centre (TMC) & raising awareness of the services provided by TMC.

The dinner & dance party will be held on Friday, 26th April 2019 at Osterley Park Hotel from 7 pm til late. Ticket is £25 each. It includes 3 course Indian cuisine, unlimited soft drinks, entertainment, DJ and raffle. Beers & spirits will be available to buy at the bar.

Trinjan Raffle in aid of TMC @ The Diwali Party on 10th November 2018

Thistleworth Social & Tennis Club in Osterley are organising Diwali Party on Saturday, 10th November 2018. Trinjan are doing raffle in the aid of The Mulberry Centre at the event. Trinjan’s Sponsored Walk on Sunday, 10th June 2018 at 12 Noon

We are pleased to inform you that we have organised a sponsorship walk for our members and /or their family & friends to participate in order to raise funds for The Mulberry Centre (TMC) which offers care, support, alternative therapies to cancer patients and their carers.

Trinjan are immensely grateful to their members for their commitment to raise money to ensure that the good work at TMC carries on. Essentially we are supporting very worthwhile cause.

We will be using Redlees Park in Isleworth for our walk. We are hoping that everybody will complete at least 2 laps minimum and of course there is no limit on the maximum number of laps.

Water and fruit  will be available for participants. Please bring along a picnic lunch and a blanket to sit on. We are hoping to have a fun filled day along with raising funds for a very good cause.

 

‘Get physically & mentally fit’ Project for women of all ages & abilities

After the huge success of our recent Table Tennis & Dance project, we are launching a new project on Tuesday, 12th December 2017. We believe there is a need for a similar project of a longer duration to encourage women to participate in group activities

Bhangra session will be held every Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm from 12th December 2017.  Instructor is Harjit of Munde Punjab De.

Table Tennis and Board Games sessions will be held on every Sunday from 10.30 am to 12 pm from 17th December 2017. Board games will include Carom board and Bridge.

All sessions will be held at Thistleworth Social & Tennis Club, 129A Ridgeway Road North, Osterley, TW7 5LX

Trinjan Members Met Skye & Her Parents in Loughborough

Skye was delighted to receive a gift from our member. Her parents said they would love to attend our monthly meeting.

Trinjan members raised £755 towards a new wheelchair for a five years old lovely little girl Skye. Five members of Trinjan travelled to Loughborough to present the cheque to Skye on Saturday, 2nd July 2017. They met Skye and her parents. They were very grateful for the generous donation.

Trinjan Ladies At Marble Hill House

After touring the Marble Hill House, Trinjan members walked around the parkland and enjoyed tea and cakes at Coach house Cafe.

16 members of Trinjan visited the magnificent Marble Hill House on Friday, 23rd June 2017. They enjoyed the guided tour of this Palladium villa set in 66 acres of outstanding riverside parkland near Richmond in West London. Marble Hill was built for the remarkable Henrietta Howard, mistress of King George ll.
